Why most GWAS hits fall in intergenic, non-coding regions? I try to answer this question as a postdoctoral researcher, at the CRG (Centre for Genomic Regulation), in Barcelona. I do it through 3D genomics: how DNA specific folding inside the cell nucleus affects cell regulation processes. Particularly, I attempt to integrate GWAS data with 3D information to improve the interpretation of GWAS results and the impact on phenotypic variation. Daily, I manage GWAS data and large-scale sequencing datasets, developing bioinformatic analysis tools for a more accurate interpretation of genetic studies.
