Fee waiver

To apply for a Fee waiver please read the following information and fill in the form, below.

Fee waiver information

Participants can apply for any upcoming Transmitting Science course that is currently open for registration, and takes place at least a week after the deadline of this call.

You do not need to register for the course: if you receive a fee waiver, a spot will be reserved for you.

Only PhD students and Postdocs are eligible to apply.

Please be aware that Fee waivers cover course fees only, and not other potential costs associated with the course.

Evaluation

The evaluation is on a 10-point scale, based on the following three criteria:

  1. Funding (2 points max)
Applicants with no funding to carry out their research receive the maximum of 2 points. Partial research grants or part-time contracts receive 1 point. Students with full financial support to develop their PhDs or researchers with full-time postdoc contracts provided by their university or an external institution receive 0 points.
In case of no or partial funding, you will be requested to submit a signed letter (PDF format) from your institution or academic advisor to certify your funding situation.
  2. Human Development Index location (4 points max)
We wish to support participants from developing nations to attend our courses. We are following the UN’s Human Development Index, which allocates nations in four human development groups:
    – Very high human development countries receive 1 point
    – High human development countries receive 2 points
    – Medium human development countries receive 3 points
    – Low human development countries receive 4 points
This applies to the country where you are presently carrying out your research, and not your country of origin.
  3. Motivation letter (4 points max)
We ask you to submit a short motivation letter (maximum 1000 characters) specifying how taking the course will improve your research or the specific project you are working on. This will be evaluated by the Transmitting Science team, and will be given a score from 0 to 4.
