How to train your dragon: Innovating teaching with Generative AI

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been regarded as a disruptive technology in Higher Education (HE). Institutions have moved from initial concerns to adopting policies that promote an ethical use of generative AI (GenAI).

This practical short course is designed to help teaching staff in HE to become familiar with AI concepts, large language models (LLMs), and the functionalities of most common GenAI multimodal tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, etc).

By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to integrate these technologies effectively into their teaching practice and support the development of AI literacy among learners.

Learning objectives:

• To acquire a basic understanding of artificial intelligence (AI), Generative AI, and how Large Language Models (LLMs) work.
• To become familiar the main GenAI tools for teaching and learning.
• To identify the risks and limitations associated with using Generative AI in HE.
• To acquire technical knowledge of different prompting techniques to achieve optimal results from GenAI multimodal agents.
• To gain a basic understanding of the skills, competences, and knowledge encompassed by the concept of AI literacy.

Places are limited to 20 participants and will be occupied by strict registration order.
