I obtained my PhD at the University of Cantabria in 1996. My dissertation was about the prehistoric settlement pattern in the Nansa and Deva valleys (Northern Spain). At the time I got a grant from the Marcelino Foundation to make a post-doc stage at the University of California, Berkeley. Since 2000 I am working at the University of Valencia, Department of Prehistory, Archaeology, Ancient History.

I am working at the application of GIS techniques to archaeology since 1990 and just for that I am an activist of both FOSS and free geospatial data. My main focus is Landscape Archaeology (=Ecological Prehistory) and the development of new techniques for managing the archaeological work from the field to the museum.
